Introducing: The Good Faith Questionnaire!

TL;DR - Click on "Good Faith Questionnaire" on my Home page to ask me a question, and make sure to read all of the disclaimers on the form!

Since I started putting content out on the internet, I've gotten a lot of questions. Some of them have been just curious, like, "Where are you from?" and "What is your writing process like?" Others have been openly malicious, like, "How does it feel knowing everyone around you hates you?" (Rude, and also, false.)

But some questions are just... hard to ask. For example, a question I got from a friend a long time ago:

"I really don't mean this in an asshole way, but- what are you going to do when writing doesn't pan out?"

This question sounds really discouraging, but I also knew this friend had a background of both a family and a community that looked down on the arts. Pursuing an art wasn't just a risky dream. It was an understood fact that it would end in failure. So, I mentally reframed the question to, "What kind of safety net do I have if I can't make a career from creative writing?"

We had a very productive conversation when I answered the question that way, and assumed that they were asking out of good faith and concern for a friend. It was a conversation that helped me understand them better, and helped them reframe how they viewed artistic careers.

I've been wanting to put together an anonymous contact form for a while. In doing so, I decided to take inspiration from this and many other conversations that started out uncomfortable, but turned out productive when I assumed the other party had good intentions.

Visit my Home page or my About page to find the Good Faith Questionnaire, a form where you can ask me questions without any fear that I'll take them as malicious or invasive. I'm mainly anticipating questions about writing and the creative process, but any questions you feel like I may be able to answer are welcome. Please make sure to read all of the disclaimers on the form before submitting your question, and keep in mind I may choose not to answer questions that are too personal or outside my scope.

Is this a lot of effort for what boils down to a basic Q&A form? Yes, yes it is. But I still feel it's effort well spent.

When submitting a question on this page, you can choose to remain anonymous or give me a username/nickname to address you by! I strongly discourage answering with your real name, especially if it's uncommon. In any case, feel free to ask whatever you wish, as serious or unserious as you'd like.

I look forward to answering your questions!
